Sh Ch Mariglen Francesca Fenston "Frankie"
is the top winning English Setter for 2009, which means Mariglen
girls have topped the breed for the past three consecutive year, (Flaming
Colours 2007 and Frankie 2008). Sh Ch
Mariglen Pentgsson’s Legacy JW "Lego" has for the second
year won the “Our Dogs” top sire award and this year gone one better
by winning the English Setter Association’s most coveted Elswood
Progeny Salver with over 1000 points gained through the year by his
winning progeny. Mariglen Ice Crystal has topped the
puppies for Linda Lawson with amongst her many wins five Best Puppy
in Breed at Championship shows through the latter part of the year.
- 14.11.2009 The long haul north and the very early
start was well worthwhile. Per Iversen judged our breed at Gundog
Breeds Of Scotland Championship Show. It was his first time awarding
CCs in our breed. Dog CC (his second), went to Chris Sayers with
Mariglen Blue Flame for Christter, BCC and BOB went to
Frankie. This brings her CC total to 12 with 7 BOBs. BPIB
(her fourth such award) and eventually RBPIS was Linda Lawson's
Mariglen Ice Crystal.
- 07.11.2009 We went to Setter & Pointer Club championship
show and Mariglen Blue Flame (Delta) won yearling dog
and the RDCC from Frank Kane. Sh Ch Fenston Arabella (Tixi
Field) won Veteran bitch and best veteran in breed.
- 05.11.2009 I have today received a communication from
the Kennel Club to tell me that the General Committee have awarded me
an "Accolade of Excellence" and honary membership within
their Accredited Breeder Scheme. This accolade is only
awarded to breeders within the scheme who they consider has a record
of outstanding achievement in their breed. This is the highest
honour available within the scheme and has only been awarded to
twelve breeders (all breeds) to date.
- 18.10.2009 Saw us taking the long journey north to the
English Setter Societ of Scotland champioship show. A good day for
Mariglen, Linda Lawson's M Ice Crystal (Valerie) won
BPIB, her elder half sister , Brian and Margaret Attwood's
Swannery Finlandia, also a Lego daughter won the BCC and
Frankie won the RCC. Stella won limit bitch.
- 14.10.2009 Today we went to Gundog Society of Wales
Championship Show. Annie won the RBCC and
Frankie competed on the Champion Stakes, having already won
under the breed judge last year. Frankie did a really
good job and won the Stakes
- 08.10.2009 Today Stella von the RCC at
South Wales Championship Show. Gayle continues to
improve and is now weight bearing on her injured leg. We still don't
know if she will ever walk properly again, we will just have to wait
and see. Her sister Florrie has settled well in her
new home and is enjoying daily walks in the beautiful Malvern Hills.
She is now looking forward to the possibility of a walking holiday
in Switzerland next year.
- 02.10.2009 We had a good day at Driffield Championship
show. Lego won the CC and RBOB, Mariglen Ice
Crystal (Valerie) his daughter, was BPIB, Bongate
Evening Star over Mariglen (Stella) was 2nd Limit bitch and
Mariglen Blue Flame (Delta) won his class and also the
Yearling Stakes (gundogs).
- 20.09.2009 Frankie went to Darlington Championship Show. She
won open bitch and the RCC. BPIB was Linda Lawson's "Valerie",
Mariglen Ice Crystal. Congratulations to Linda and Valerie.
Some sad news, our new pup Mariglen Crystal Gayle was badly
injured in a road traffic accident on Friday. Hopefully given time,
and the TLC she is getting from her other mum, Linda Harris, and
the skill of our vets, she will recover. "Gayle" had two days
earlier won BPIB at Windsor Gundog Club and had been BPIB at the
Welsh Kennel Club championship show in August.
- 13.09.2009 We went to Richmond Championship Show. A
lovely day for Mariglen. Blue Flame won his first CC
from yearling and ended the day BOB and made the last eight in the
gundog group. Frankie won her 11th CC maintaining her lead
in the breed for this year. Margaret and Brian Attwood's
Swannery Finlandia won her class (daughter of Lego) and our
new baby Crystal Gayle won 2nd minor puppy bitch. The
judge was Mr Greg Browne who had travelled from Australia and
awarding CCs in English Setters for the first time in the UK.
