30.11.12  The past three months have been really quiet at Mariglen as we have stayed at home, except for the odd outing, while Sunshine has raised her puppies by Swannery Valentino's Legacy To Caspellwynd.    They are now almost three months old and two bitch pups are staying here, an orange belton bitch Mariglen Xanthe and a blue belton and tan Mariglen Argenta.

 

10.11.12  Chris Sayers and I travelled to Scotland to Gundog Breeds Championship Show and Delta won his 23nd CC.   He is this year's top winning English Setter.   His sire Sh Ch Mariglen Pengtsson's Legacy is the leading English Setter stud dog for 2012.

 

14.9.12  Today was a special day at Mariglen as Sunshine whelped eight babies, four dogs and four bitches.  Dad is Swannery Valentino’s Legacy to Caspellwynd.

 

8.9.12   Blue Flame flew the flag on his own today at Richmond championship show.  He won his 22nd CC and BOB

 

2.9.12  City Of Birmingham, judge Jock Mackay.  Kitty was second in her class today.  Nora won yearling and Blue Flame won his 21CC, BOB and shortlisted in the group.

 

23.8.12  SKC II judge Sheila Tye.  Kitty (Balvenie Kismet at Mariglen) had her first outing and won her class.  Nora, Gayle and Valerie also won their class. Congratulations to Margaret Attwood who showed Sh Ch Swannery Finlandia and won her 6th CC.  This gave Lego his fifth CC winner this year.

 

7.8.12  We are now just over half way through the show calendar and Sh Ch Mariglen Pengtsson’s Legacy (Lego) is currently leading top stud dog with four progeny winning CCs, and his son Sh Ch Mariglen Blue Flame For Christter is currently breed leader have won eleven CCs this year bringing his total to 20. Sh Ch Mariglen Francesca Fenston has won two CCs this year bringing her total to 22 and Linda Lawson’s Mariglen Ice Crystal is sitting on two CCs. Tereza Watkins Sh Ch Mariglen Snowdrift of Hayworth has collected two more RCCs

 

5.8.12 Paignton, wet, wet, wet, but did we mind, not a bit. Margaret Green judged for the first time in nearly twenty years, and gave Blue Flame his 20th CC and today he beat his kennel mate Francesca who won her 22nd CC, for BOB. He and Chris carried the Mariglen flag high winning group 3. Ollie was second today, as was Nora, who hasn’t been out for a good while. Crystal Gayle was fourth. Dancing Brave had to settle for a fifth today.

 

4.8.12  National Gundog Association was the start of a busy and exciting weekend. Judge Glenis Williams. Blue Flame won his 19th CC, BOB and ended the day group four. I was really sorry I couldn’t stop to watch him in the big ring, but had to rush home to wash Frankie ready for the next day. Joy Field’s Sea The Stars for Fenston (Alfie) won post grad, thanks Chris Bird for handling Alfie. Prince Charming got two seconds and Margaret McCabe’s Nina Fever won graduate and the good citizens class. In limit, Ice Crystal was second, and in post grad Crystal Gayle was fourth.

 

28.7.12  Leeds championship show and this time our judge was Anne Dykes. Blue Flame won his 18th CC. Brenda Seaman and Ollie – Mariglen Royal Flame, made their debut and won minor puppy dog and best puppy dog. Well done both. Ollie is a son of Royal Flush and his mom is litter sister to Blue Flame. Sunshine stayed home, although entered as we are hoping for the pitta patter of tiny paws mid September. Crystal Gayle was second in limit and litter sister Ice Crystal was 4th. Dancing Brave won post grad and Prince Charming VHC.

 

7.7.12  East Of England, but for the first time without CCs. BD and BOB was Snowdrift and BB went to Sunshine. Judge Anthony Allen.

 

1.7.12  ESA open show, judge Jane Howarth. Sunshine had the outing this day and won graduate bitch, Goldikova was second, Crystal Gayle was second Post Grad bitch, Dancing Brave won post grad dog and special beginner dog.

 

29.6.12 Windsor championship show, judge John Barber and Blue Flame won his 17th CC for Chris and me and made the cut in the group. Frankie was second in open bitch.

 

24.6.12  Blackpool Championship show rained off this weekend.  Sh Ch Mariglen Francesca Fenston as you have not seen her before hot on the heels of swallows. Click the picture to enlarge it :)

17.6.12  Fabulous day today.  Our lovely boy Sh Ch Mariglen Blue Flame For Christter won his sixteenth CC and today BOB (judge Dave Lewis) and then went on to win the Gundog Group at Border Union Championship Show.

 

10.6.12  Meanwhile in Holland, Eddy Deville with Mariglen Nina Valentina (Tina) won CC and BOB at Hulten International Championship Show.

 

8.6.12  A very wet Three Counties championship show where we were judged by John Thirwell.   Blue Flame won his 15th CC and today BOB and delighted Chris and me by winning gundog group four.    RDCC went to Snowdrift.    Sunshine again won her class and is again really enjoying herself in the showring.    Nora was second in her class.    Ice Crystal was also second in her class, but delighted her mom by winning the Good Citizen Stakes with fifty quid for the first place.    Snowdrift won third in the Champion Stakes.

 

6.6.12 Sunshine won her class at Staffordshire Agricultural Society.

 

1.6.12  Southern Counties championship show, judge Patsy Hollings. DCC again Blue Flame and RDCC Snowdrift.   Sunshine was second in her class today.   Flaming Sunset won her class and Gayle VHC.

 

26.5.12  Today I took Sunshine to Bath championship show where she won her class - judge Babs Harding.   Blue Flame won his 13th CC, Ice Crystal won her 2nd CC and today won the BOB and made the short cut in the group.

 

20.5.12  What a busy three days.   Today we went to Midland English Setter Open Show with Sunshine who won yearling bitch and reserve best bitch in show.  Nina Fever was second in yearling and Flaming Sunset fourth and she also won special beginner.   Goldikova won graduate.    Snowdrift won open dog and our lovely Flaming Colours, although protesting really at having to don her show lead, won a second in veteran for Brenda.   M Sea The Stars with Joy Field won post grad dog.

 

19.5.12  Linda's Walshaw Moon Dust (a daughter of Moon Magic Po Pengtsson) whelped four puppies by Mandyset Smooth Criminal, two dogs and two bitches, mum and babies doing really well. Video!

 

18.5.12   A really early start with travelling companions Brenda and Mel to Edinburgh for Scottish Kennel Club championship show.    Dr Ron James judged our breed.   Winning her 21st CC and today BOB was our Frankie.    Limit bitch went to Mel's Mariglen Crystal Gayle and junior dog went to Sheenagh Hay's Mariglen Prince Charming (Nora's brother).

 

13.5.12  Congratulations to Eddy Deville with Mariglen Nina Valentina winning Best bitch at Dutch Setter Club Show, judge Tereza Watkins and Lego son Swannery Unforgettable winning BOB for Jaana and Katja.

 

10.5.12  The National Championship Show, judge Clive Davis.   Sunshine  was 2nd Post Grad bitch and also won a third place in the Post Grad stakes.   Nora won junior bitch.  M Sea The Stars was second in post grad dog, Flaming Sunset 2nd yearling and Goldikova VHC

 

6.5.12  Northern English Setter Society Open Show.    Linda and my Mariglen Gift Wrapped (Nora) won RBB.

 

29.4.12  English Setter Society of Scotland.  Mel Sharples won yearling bitch with Mariglen Flaming Sunset and Linda Lawson won mid limit with Mariglen Ice Crystal.

 

22.4.12  English Setter Association Championship Show, one of the most prestigious shows on the calendar and we were delighted to see Chris Sayers with Sh Ch Mariglen Blue Flame win his 12 CC and BIS.  Other winners were Mel Sharples with Gayle winning special beginners and 2nd in post grad.   Linda Lawson with Valerie 2nd mid limit, Dancing Brave two 3rd places, Nina Valentina 2nd and Sunshine 3rd in yearling.

 

23.3.12  It is with great pleasure we welcome to Mariglen the two little girls Balvenie Serendipity and Balvenie Kismet.  Born in January their dad is Sh Ch Mariglen Get Carter Balvenie and their mum is Fantails Just Georgie voor Balvenie.  Thanks to Peter and Isabel Schoneville and Ann Derry for letting them come to Mariglen.

 

9.3.12   Crufts - what a fabulous day.  DCC and BOB and eventually shortlisted in the group Sh Ch Mariglen Blue Flame for Christter - well done Chris and Delta for flying the Mariglen flag so high.   Didn't they look good on the TV. RBCC Francesca, 2nd open dog Sh Ch Mariglen Snowdrift at Hayworth, 2nd mid limit bitch Ice Crystal, 1st yearling bitch Goldikova, 4th yearling bitch Nina Fever, 2nd Veteran bitch Mariglen Steals The Heart of Meandi.   Our precocious Gift Wrapped, although entered, didn't get there on the day.  Congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped make the day special and thanks to judge Keith Smith.

 

26.2.12.    We haven't been out anywhere much just lately until today, though Sunshine won her class and RBOB at Lichfield open show and Leicester Gundog Club open show a couple of weeks past.   Today we went to Midland English Setter Society reschuled open show.  This show was "snowed off" a couple of weeks ago.  Dog judge today was Chris Bird, awarding CCs for the first time.  Sh Ch Gemsett Dark Forces at Mariglen won a second place in Veteran dog and Blue Flame won second in open dog.  Not sure who won anything else int he dog classes.    Bitches saw our Sh Ch Mariglen Princess Royal making a return to the ring after an absence of a couple of years.  Handled by Annette Ball, Annie won her class and BVIS.  Nora made her first appearance in junior bitch and was placed first.  Sarah Loakes' Goldikova won Tyro, and M Flaming Sunset was fifth placed in yearling.  Crystal Gayle won special beginners and sister Ice Crystal won mid limit and was winner overall of the special stakes classes.  Frankie won a third place in open bitch.  Nora collected her award for MESS pup of the year.

 Linda and I were delighted to hear recently that Nora (Mariglen Gift Wrapped) is runner up top puppy all breeds, Our Dogs competition 2011.  Congratulations to Linda and Nora and here is my best wishes to both of them for as such a successful junior career.

 

22.1.12 Manchester Championship Show – judge Di Morgan (Meandi). DCC and BOB Blue Flame, RDCC Snowdrift. RBCC Ice Crystal and winning PG bitch Crystal Gayle.

 

Welcome to Mariglen 2012 and here is hoping it is as successful for us as 2011.

* We had five individual CC winners through the year winning for the kennel UK Top Breeder 2011.
* Sh Ch Fenston Arabella At Mariglen won Dog World/Arden Grange Top Brood Bitch.
* Mariglen Giftwrapped won Our Dogs Top Puppy with an amazing thirteen best puppy in breed awards in her first six months of gishowing. * Sh Ch Mariglen Pengtsson’s Legacy won the English Setter Association’s Elswood Progeny Salver for the third year running.
* Sh Ch Mariglen Princess Royal at Gemsett won the Settrenda Brood Bitch trophy for the second year.
 
Mariglen Snowdrift gained his crown to become the twenty sixth UK show champion and was RBIS at Gundog Society of Wales on the day.
Legacy had just one outing when he won the CC and BOB at South Wales Ch Sh and his daughter Mariglen Ice Crystal won her first CC on the day. Mariglen Crystal Gayle hit the high spot with the RCC at NESS. The year ended at LKA with Sh Ch Mariglen Blue Flame for Christter winning his ninth CC and Sh Ch Mariglen Francesca Fenston her twentieth CC. Blue Flame took the BOB. Six of Francesca’s pups from her first litter all won well, our own Mariglen Beautiful Dawn’s wins included BPIB Crufts. At the end of the year Mariglen Another Blonde (Blue Flame’s litter sister) had just two puppies by Sh Ch Wansleydale Royal Flush. Only two, but what crackers and I am looking forward to them starting their show careers in the summer. Thanks to everyone who has shown their Mariglens and bringing them to shows in such lovely condition. Lots of luck to all of you in 2012
We had entered Boston championship show at the beginning of January, but Frankie was poorly on the day. Frankie is never normally poorly and was not a happy patient. However, she was better the next day and back to her usual bouncing self. Niece Mariglen Ice Crystal kept our flag flying by winning Best Bitch.
