News 2019

2019 was a year of mixed fortunes. Fabulous highs and heartbreaking lows. The beginning of the year saw Kate Thomson’s Fetlar gain his title at Manchester to become Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwynd, the thirty third UK title holder for Mariglen.

April saw the launch of the show career of the daughter of Nattaset Sonata Arctica At Mariglen (imp Fin), Alex,  Gemsett Ice Cold In Alex at Mariglen, bred under Linda Harris’ Gemsett kennel name, Alex is co-owned and shown also with Di Morgan.

Following an incredible puppy career where she was rarely beaten and finished in September the UK’s top English Setter puppy with twelve BPIB, multiple gundog puppy groups and placings she moved to junior where she won RCC at Setter & Pointer championship show and finished the year with an unbelievable CC, BOB and gundog group three at LKA championship show at the tender age of fourteen months.  She was piloted to the fabulous win by Xanthe’s handler Suzy Roffey.

Balvenie Kismet at Mariglen whelped her final litter in April, five boys and one girl. Blue belton and Tan Mariglen Flashdance made the long journey to Hamburg at the end of September to start a new life with Wolfgang Eickert. Flash has been to just one show where he won BPand BPIS (pictures).

Orange belton Mariglen Cinnabar went to live in Scotland with Donald and Joan Shepherd. He qualified for Crufts at his first show. The only bitch travelled to Switzerland with her new mum Silvia Lanzendoerfer, where she lives a wonderful life. Current global problems means Mariglen Lalique couldn’t go to her first planned show.

Mariglen Sweet Pea hates showing, however, she managed two RCCs, Birmingham National and Border Union. She is happier at home, but hopefully she will have babies late summer.

Sh Ch Mariglen Audi (picture) also prefers being home, being noisy and demanding to be taken to the field. Howerer he is a very successful stud, his quiet attitude to his work makes him a very good choice for shy or difficult bitches. To date he has had a 100% success rate.

Nattaset Sonata Arctica At Mariglen, Panda was shown only five times and won all her classes bar one.  She delighted us by winning the bitch CC at Leeds championship show.  I hope she will have babies late summer.

Amidst all this happiness, tragedy struck in November.  Unbelievably and inexplicably, five year old Sh Ch Mariglen Fetlar Caspellwyd passed away, just one week after winning his fifth CC and on the day BOB at Gundog Breeds Of Scotland championship show leaving Kate bereft and heart broken.  Less than a week later, at the relatively young age of nine we had to say goodbye to the beautiful Sh Ch Mariglen Gift Wrapped. So ended 2019.
